The Energy Community is an international organization dealing with energy policy. The Community was established by an international Treaty in October 2005 in Athens. The Treaty entered into force in July 2006, bringing together the European Union on one hand, and the countries of Southeast Europe and the Black Sea region on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mission of the Energy Community is to support the region\u2019s path towards EU membership through the implementation of EU energy legislation, to promote alignment with EU energy and climate policies, to support the establishment of a strong regulatory framework ensuring security of supply and attracting investments, to foster market integration through cross-border trade in electricity, gas, hydrogen and CO\u2082, as well as to promote sustainability through renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and environmental protection, while ensuring consumer protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Montenegro is one of the Contracting Parties to the Energy Community, and representatives of CGES participate in the work of numerous task forces and initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
