Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem (CGES) has successfully completed the replacement of the 220/110/10.5 kV autotransformer, with a capacity of 150 MVA, in the substation Podgorica 1, thus implementing another significant investment as part of the one of the most important transformer capacity renewal projects in the transmission network of Montenegro.
The works included the dismantling of the existing and installation of a new autotransformer, assembly and connection of equipment, conducting all necessary tests and settings, after which the transformer was successfully put into regular operation.
The installation of a new autotransformer improved the reliability and security of the operation of the substation Podgorica 1, reduced the risk of unplanned outages and breakdowns, and provided conditions for a more stable and high-quality transmission of electricity. At the same time, the readiness of the system to respond to the future needs of network development and the connection of new users and generation capacities has increased.
The autotransformer replacement project is part of a broader investment cycle of modernisation of the transmission network aimed at increasing the security and stability of the electric power system and ensuring reliable power supply.
After the successful completion of the works in SS Podgorica 1, CGES continues the implementation of this investment project by replacing an identical autotransformer in SS Mojkovac. Completion of the works is expected at the end of August, which will complete another important phase of renewal and modernisation of the key transformer facilities of the transmission network.
The total investment value is 4.4 million euros.
