Telecommunications

Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD (CGES), pursuant to the Law on Electronic Telecommunications (“Official Gazette of Montenegro”, no. 50/08), is registered in the Register of Operators of the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Decision no.0205-3719/2 of 01.10.2010), for providing the service of optical fiber lease.
CGES provides wholesale services of operator approach, i.e. it leases to telecommunication operators optical fibers and other infrastructure to which, if interested, can begin to offer also services of signal transmission through NGSDH network. In case of expressed interest, it shall begin to offer services also to entities not telecommunication operators.
The basis of telecommunication network is the optical fiber realized through OPGW cable in technological performance as optical cables in ground wires of high-voltage lines (OPGW- Optical Fiber in Ground Wire) as main transmission medium and NGSDH (Next Generation Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) transmission systems based on optical transport infrastructure. The total length of optical cable is 656 km.

The optical network is consistent with development of transmission networks in neighboring electric companies. The capacity of the OPGW cable in the network is 48 fibers. Applied OPGW cables have two types of fibers, 24 fibers are ITU-T G.652D SMF type, while other 24 fibers are ITU-T G.655C NZDSF type. Only in direction of Andrijevica - Berane is used the cable with 24 optical fibers, but of mixed structure including both types of used fibers.
By using optics, CGES is connected with electric companies of Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Albania.
The physical structure of CGES’s optical network is shown in Figure 1:

Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD (CGES), in accordance with the Law on Electronic Communications (“Official Gazette of Montenegro” no. 40/13, 56/13, 02/17), is registered in the Operators’ Register of the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Decision no. 0205-5479/2 of 30.07.2019.) for providing leasing services. electronic communication infrastructures

CGES offers the service in question to interested operators in cases where technical conditions and available free capacities for shared use of the electronic communications infrastructure exist, and where such shared use does not cause interference with the operation and utilization of that infrastructure. The leasing service of electronic communications infrastructure includes the provision of alternating current (220 V AC) power supply. CGES can provide power from the local transformer, just as it does for other consumers in the substation. Equipment for uninterrupted power supply is provided by the lessee.
