A school bus, for the procurement of which the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) donated 20,000 euros for its purchase, will provide pupils from the Poddurmitor villages with comfortable, safe and regular transport to and from the primary school, thereby providing a long-term solution to the long-standing problem of pupil transport in Žabljak.

This was announced today at a ceremony in front of the 'Dušan Obradović' Primary School in Žabljak, where CGES Executive Director Dragan Kujović handed over the keys to the school bus to the school's director, Zoran Vojinović.

The Executive Director of CGES, Dragan Kujović, pointed out that the school bus was procured for the purpose of transporting pupils from the Poddurmitor villages to the school and back.

"My satisfaction is all the greater, as at CGES there was never a second's hesitation about supporting this idea. Everything was arranged in a very short space of time. We have allocated funds for your bus, which will provide you with safe and warm transport to and from school," Kujović said.

He said it is characteristic of CGES, as a socially responsible company, to always support, in line with its capabilities, anything that benefits the wider community.

"Besides these smiles, which are the greatest expression of gratitude, which I see on your faces today, I see this as an investment in our future. You are our future. Among you are many future PhDs, professors, waiters, chefs, and teachers, and I am delighted to see you smiling," said Kujović.

Vojinović said that only what was good and worthwhile in that school was accepted as tradition.

"A lot has been achieved in recent years with the full attention and support of donors, people with big hearts," said Vojinović.

According to him, the donation is very important because no modern society can be imagined without good schools and teachers.

"The vision for the educational process at this institution is not limited to what pupils learn in school, but is designed to encompass an open, interactive school, networked, modernly equipped, aligned with contemporary trends, and a place where pupils are happy to come and which both teachers and parents are satisfied with," said Vojinović.

The valuable donation will, as he pointed out, make the vision a reality and make it easier for pupils to get to school and for extracurricular activities to run more smoothly.

"Enhancing the school's cooperation with social partners and attracting new partners for support is outlined in the development plan as one of the key activities for the upcoming four-year period. The school has realised several key donations and projects to date, but it seems to me that none has had as great an impact on the pupils as this one," Vojinović said.

He said that, in addition to the school and CGES, the Ministry of Education and the municipality of Žabljak participated in the realisation of the project.

The Mayor of Žabljak, Veselin Vukićević, said that children are the hope for a better tomorrow, and that their education is a key factor in the further progress of society.

Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to ensure adequate conditions for their education. We must have a special regard for our youngest residents and give them our full attention. In all segments, we are striving to improve the quality of life in Žabljak, with an emphasis on easing conditions for people who have chosen to live in the countryside and their children," Vukićević said.

The local authority, year on year, as he said, allocates more and more funds for education, through the purchase of textbooks, rewarding the best pupils, providing scholarships for students, and supporting the extracurricular activities of schools and nurseries.

"In the days ahead, I can say with certainty that we will not neglect the needs of our educational institutions and children, but will instead work even more intensively on financial and other forms of support," said Vukićević.

A pupil from the 'Dušan Obradović' school, Tamara Dakić, thanked the donors, who, she explained, by providing the school bus, have made comfortable, safe and regular transport for pupils from remote rural areas possible.

We are grateful to you for resolving the long-standing problem of pupil transport in the long term and enabling the children to attend lessons without disruption. With this gift, you have enriched our childhood and schooling, because as you know, the school bus is the place where first school crushes are born, school secrets are revealed, forgotten homework is done, and learnt lessons are repeated, share school anecdotes, and often hear songs about the majestic Durmitor and its beauties," Dakić said.
