The Ninth Meeting of the Trade Unions of Electricity Transmission Companies of South-eastern Europe, hosted by the CGES Trade Union Organisation, was held from 27 to 30 May 2019 at the 'Korali' Hotel in Sutomore.
The meetings were opened by the PR manager of CGES, Nada Pavićević, who wished the guests a pleasant stay.
Welcome to the coast of the Adriatic, Mediterranean Montenegro, wonderful Sutomore whose inhabitants have preserved their name, surname, turbulent past and bright present for several centuries. For those visiting Montenegro and this area for the first time, I should say that the town of Sutomore was founded in 1882 when the first houses were built on the very coast, whereas the entire region known as Spič has existed for much longer. Here, the winds mingle, coming from the open sea and carrying the scent of wine and grapes from the numerous vineyards, and I am sure they reach as far as your own countries. For, Everything one could possibly wish for is situated in one small space, full of nature's wonders and beauty. Montenegro is, by all accounts, an unmissable destination, whose doors are always open to everyone, Pavićević emphasised.
On that occasion, Pavićević expressed her belief that this gathering is the beginning of a continuation. long-standing friendship and cooperation. We are not only united by our professions in our electricity transmission companies and our successes at work, but also by the trade union struggle, as well as the exchange of experiences in creating an even more effective social policy and implementing economic and social reforms," she explained. I hope that at these meetings we will reach common ground that will enhance our trade union work and commit us to following through on what we agree. Our problems are similar, and every meeting is beneficial, regardless of the size of the country we come from, because, on the whole, we all have the same concerns and joys,
Massive gatherings like this show that cooperation between the unions of electricity transmission companies practically knows no bounds. This was confirmed at previous meetings, and I hope it will be confirmed at these, the ninth meetings. Trade union solidarity and mutual support, but also a short break from the daily work which is both complex and demanding, And in some segments, they are also difficult; these are the objectives of these meetings.
Finally, it is worth recalling the stance of Brussels and the European Union, which insist on good relations and the rapprochement of the region in all areas. We, as trade unionists, must work towards this in order to recover some of the resources that our countries have in the meantime missed out on.
Finally, Pavićević wished the participants every success in the competitions and officially opened the event. 9th Meeting of the Trade Unions of Electricity Transmission Companies of South-eastern Europe.
She concluded the meetings on behalf of the CGES Trade Union Organisation. Tatjana Dragović, and on that occasion handed over the flag to the host of the 10th Meeting, Vencislav Andrev, a representative from the trade union of the Bulgarian electricity transmission company. Dragović congratulated the most successful participants, hoping that all participants would take away fond memories of Sutomore.
