The Montenegrin Committee of the International Council for Large Electric Grids (CIGRE CG), the organiser of the 8th Conference in Budva (Hotel Aval), aims to promote and encourage the creation of a new concept in the energy sector.
The consultation was opened by the President of the CIGRE CG Committee, Predrag Mijajilović, who, among other things, said that the energy sector does not permit thoughtlessness, wandering or drifting, and that he expects the consultation will provide answers to all current questions.
At present, we do not have an Energy Strategy. Energy has been politicised to the point of being used for day-to-day political purposes, which we engineers should not allow.
At the opening, representatives of energy entities in Montenegro addressed those present:Aleksandar Mijušković, Chairman of the CGES Board of Directors, Milutin Đukanović, President of the Board of Elektroprivreda Crna Gora, as well as Honorary President of the CG KO CIGRE, Prof. Dr Milutin Ostojić And the President of CIGRE Serbia, Nebojša Petrović.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator, Aleksandar Mijušković, emphasised that The International Council on Large Electric Grids, where the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) holds a significant place, is precisely an opportunity where the spoken word is heard, because The role of the Montenegrin CIGRE Committee is very significant, also due to the fact that it brings together experts from the energy sectors who, with the already established good communication with experts from the wider community, will help in the successful realisation of the planned activities and projects in the energy sector.
"I am pleased to note that we are already part of the European family, because through numerous investments we have transcended national borders, and not only when it comes to the region, but more broadly as well. Here, I am primarily referring to the subsea interconnection with Italy, where for the third year running we have enjoyed extra profit not only from that transit but also through the issuance of cross-border allocations. Therefore, today I am proud to state that we have a historic profit of €20.03 million. What is indisputable is that CGES, despite the difficult times, knew the way to success. Namely, We are, thanks to the ability, expertise of our employees and by applying the highest standards of business practice, have successfully overcome the challenges, and in such "Under the circumstances, they have preserved the company's key resources and continued the trend of constant growth and achieving impressive results," said the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
We believe that the investments which have been completed, as well as those which are underway, have a strong impact on economic activity in our country and that they contribute significantly to an increase in employment and GDP growth, as well as positioning the company, and the state of Montenegro, as one of the central players in the electricity sector in Southeast Europe, Mijušković stated, adding that are ours Significant investments have changed the energy landscape of this part of Europe and the Balkan Peninsula. "The project we have presented represents not just an energy hub, but a bridge between the European Union and the Balkans. And Montenegro, as a tourist country, could also be highly competitive through the green transition. Our priority is to help the region we belong to and to turn towards energy-efficient resources, identify and resolve weak points and eliminate pressing problems. Montenegro is being presented with a huge opportunity to make the most of the funds available to it on its path to green transformation. And we at CGES want to be an example of how to make the best possible use of opportunities and how to adopt innovations effectively. We have demonstrated this through the projects we have completed, but also through the investment cycle we have outlined, which would represent a major challenge for companies and systems much larger than our own, so we have focused all our capacity on the realisation of significant projects with a regional dimension, and this without placing an additional burden on the tariff for consumers in Montenegro," said Mijušković.
New sources of electricity that are already on the list of planned investments would not form a complete whole without the transmission infrastructure, i.e. the CGES. And we are already ready and provide a good foundation for future investments in the energy sector, because we have successfully overcome the global crisis despite difficult and complex barriers. Positive business performance and the realisation of numerous investments aimed at providing consumers with a higher quality and more reliable electricity supply are proof that we have the human capital essential for implementing our planned investment projects. And without these projects, and without clear visions and plans, we would not be able to move forward. And what lies ahead is, of course, a very ambitious five-year investment plan, worth €195 million.
President Mijušković emphasised that a more challenging year is behind us, one which was marked by the global energy crisis, which is having a significant impact on Montenegro's energy sector. Has the energy crisis taught us how to change our attitude towards energy, is an end in sight, and how essential are new infrastructure projects and technologies to us? whether it will slow down the green transition, what the Montenegrin energy sector is doing—these are all questions to which we have already, to a significant extent, provided answers. Nevertheless, I see that the aforementioned potential topics for panels, round tables, and informal conversations will be key during the consultation, and I look forward to it. .
-Appreciating the solemnity of the moment,I will take this opportunity to wish all the colleagues actively participating in this most significant professional gathering in Montenegro a successful conference, and to 'solidify' the conclusions from the forthcoming sessions as effectively as possible, which will be heard not only within the energy sectors but also much further afield – at the most relevant addresses.
To the Executive Director of the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator, To Ivan Asanović A plaque for the overall contribution to the organisation of the CG KO CIGRE was presented.
For this year's conference, 71 scientific papers from Montenegro and the region were accepted. These will be presented over the three days of the conference within 15 study committees, and alongside them, an eight-committee technical exhibition of energy equipment and instruments is also being organised. services and software, among which our company's stand received considerable attention.
The main sponsors of the 8th Conference are the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator, the Electric Power Company of Montenegro, the Montenegrin Distribution System Operator and the EFT group, with 200 experts from Montenegro and the region taking part.
