The Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) and Elektromreža Srbije (EMS) have signed an Agreement for the Purchase of Electricity Infrastructure, thereby confirming their long-standing cooperation and joint commitment to the development of a stable and reliable regional electricity system. The agreement was signed by the directors of the two companies, Ivan Asanović i Jelena Matejić.
The subject of the contract is the purchase of part of the 220 kV and 110 kV interconnector transmission lines, which are owned by EMS and located in Montenegro, which, in accordance with the agreement reached, will be transferred to the ownership of CGES.
The reason for this arrangement stems from the fact that the maintenance and operation of transmission lines located on the territory of another state is complex and demanding, both from a technical and a legal perspective. For this reason, CGES and EMS jointly launched an initiative to find a sustainable solution for the interconnector transmission lines. the 220 kV 'Pljevlja-Bajina Bašta', 220 kV 'Pljevlja-Bistrica' and 110 kV 'Pljevlja 1-Potpeć' double circuit lines, which are owned by EMS and partly located in Montenegro, and the internal 220 kV 'Mojkovac-Pljevlja' double circuit line, which is partly on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, and is managed by Good luck
In line with this, a model was adopted whereby each transmission system operator becomes the owner of the transmission lines located within its state's territory. This principle ensures simpler management, more efficient maintenance, and greater legal and operational clarity in the operation of transmission systems.
Ivan Asanović, director of CGES, emphasised: "The agreement reached shows that CGES and EMS capable of jointly resolving complex issues in the interest of both states and all users of the electricity system.
Director of EMS,Jelena Matejić, she stated: "With this agreement, we are creating a more stable foundation for a technically and legally compliant transmission system, thereby further strengthening the reliability and security of the electricity grid in the region."
The signing of the contract was attended by Leda Minić, Director of ElektroprenosRade Marković, Head of Legal and EMS Representative, Tamara the Redhead.
