Montenegro's electricity transmission system celebrated its jubilee – ten years since its establishment.
The national company Montenegrin Transmission System Operator (CGES – AD) celebrated its tenth anniversary, attended by numerous guests, mostly from the professional community. Those who addressed the attendees were: Nikola Vujović, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy, Vesna Bracanović, Chairwoman of the CGES Board of Directors, as well as Jevto Eraković, Director of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro.
Mr Nikola Vujović, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy, emphasised that over these ten years, CGES has made a historic leap in terms of implementing investment activities, and expressed his gratitude to CGES's strategic partners, management, and employees. He also stated that the Government of Montenegro, as well as the relevant ministry, believe that Montenegro will capitalise on its advantage by becoming an energy hub in relation to the countries in the region.

Vesna Bracanović, Chairwoman of the CGES Board of Directors, stated that this company, from its inception to the present day, in carrying out its activity of public interest, has always had the same goal, namely – the reliable operation of the transmission system, in order to ensure a stable electricity supply to all Montenegrin cities and citizens. Bracanović pointed out that around 155 million euros have been invested in the development of the transmission system, thereby contributing to the creation of the prerequisites for the development of Montenegro's economy. The Chairwoman of the CGES Board of Directors noted the importance of the strategic partnership with Europe's largest energy operator – Italy's Terna, and stressed that CGES will continue its investment activities in the future. Speaking about what has been achieved over the past decade, Bracanović said that new substations have been commissioned, while existing ones have been reconstructed and expanded from north to south of Montenegro, in: Mojkovac, Andrijevica, Nikšić, Podgorica, Virpazar, Kotor and Lastva; two new generation facilities with a total installed capacity of 118 MW have been connected to the transmission system, which represents an additional 14 per cent of generation capacity connected to the transmission system; the 400 kV interconnector between Montenegro and Albania has been commissioned, while the commissioning of the interconnector with Italy is expected by the end of the year; work has been carried out on the implementation of the SCADA system, which provides for better monitoring, as well as on the optimisation of existing capacities. Speaking about future plans and investment activities, the Chairwoman of the CGES Board of Directors, pointed out that over the next five years, the company CGES will implement projects worth 106 million euros, with current investments focused on: the construction of the Žabljak and Luštica substations, the 110 kV 'Lastva' transmission line,46 million euros, while current investments are focused on: the construction of the Žabljak and Luštica substations, the 110 kV 'Lastva-Kotor' and 'Vilusi-Herceg Novi' transmission lines, as well as the reconstruction of existing 110 kV transmission lines. Bracanović stated that in recent years, CGES has built almost 100 kilometres of lines of all voltage levels throughout Montenegro.

On the occasion of the Society's Day, the Executive Director of CGES, Dragan Kujović, presented certificates of appreciation to the best employees of the year from all sectors.

The Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, Vesna Bracanović, presented a donation of 35,000 euros to the Clinical Centre of Montenegro. The donation was received by the Director of the Clinical Centre, Mr Jevto Eraković, whoHe highlighted the socially responsible business practices of CGES, as well as his gratitude for the donation, which will significantly enhance the work of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro.
