Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is great interest in part allocations of cross-border capacity, which are proceeding smoothly at both the cable and other borders of Montenegro. In support of this claim is the fact that the revenue from the allocation of cross-border transmission capacity on the border with Italy is in line with the planned amount, while on other ganicas exceeded our projections. Revenue from allocations on all borders for the first quarter is 56 per cent higher than projected.
Since the day the submarine cable was officially launched for commercial use, With Italy, the following quantities of energy were exchanged via the same transmission system: a total of 388,594.8 MWh (megawatt-hours) were imported, of which 48,125.5 MWh were from 16 March, while 275,014 MWh were exported, of which 80,825,2 MWh relates to the period from 16 March, when the emergency measures of the Government of Montenegro came into force. CGES has generated revenue of over seven million euros from all auctions held to date, at all borders, including the submarine cable.
The coronavirus pandemic has inevitably brought about a number of changes to everyday business life. Therefore, it was necessary to adapt to the new circumstances, which required an additional effort to protect the health of our employees. Even in this situation, we demonstrated responsibility, professionalism, and the ability to adapt to the new circumstances. Accordingly, a preventive action team was formed at CGES, which is responsible for implementing all measures and recommendations of the National Coordination Team and the Government of Montenegro. In the event of a potential deterioration in the epidemiological situation, crisis staff have also been prepared to operate from two separate locations, in order to react proactively to prevent the importation and spread of the virus on the one hand, and to maintain the electricity transmission system stable and reliable on the other.
Additionally, an engagement plan has been prepared for all positions at CGES, which depends on the assessed level of risk of virus transmission. The organisation of work within our company is carried out in accordance with this plan.
In the end, We emphasise that the safety and reliability of the electricity supply is the primary task of CGES under all conditions, including those posing a risk of the spread of coronavirus. In line with this, and in the current circumstances, the reliability of the electricity transmission is being maintained at the highest possible level, whilst adhering to all recommendations from the relevant authorities.
