On 18 January 2023, the Montenegrin electricity transmission system put the 110 kV 'Lastva-Brezna' transmission line, which is 100 kilometres long, into service. Namely, in the previous period, CGES implemented numerous activities which were a prerequisite for the commissioning of the temporary 110kV link "Lastva - Brezna", in order to relieve the transmission network from Nikšić (Perućica), towards Podgorica, in order to ensure a more reliable supply of electricity to consumers. The link is a complex line consisting of the 110 kV "Lastva - Kotor" transmission line section, the 400 kV "Lastva Pljevlja" transmission line section, and a temporary 110 kV cable link connecting the two aforementioned lines.
The significance of temporary connection in the current energy crisis is very great. The new 110 kV ring will significantly enhance the security of supply for consumers for the upcoming winter season, thereby enabling CGES to continue fulfilling its role of ensuring a reliable and secure supply of electricity to consumers.
