The Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) continues its intensive activities on the construction of the transmission network, namely the works on the project to connect the electricity systems of Montenegro and Italy, as part of the wider Trans-Balkan Interconnection project which stretches from Romania to Italy.

In this regard, we inform the public that the works on the 35-kilometre section of the single-circuit transmission line have been completed, thereby completing the 1400 kV "Lastva – Podgorica 2" transmission line, which will be operational from today. This completes the technical solution on the section from Lastva to Čevo, in accordance with the Project Coordination Agreement between the state of Montenegro, CGES and Terna, the transmission system operator in Italy, in accordance with the Project Coordination Agreement, resulting in significantly more reliable operation of the submarine interconnector and the overall transmission system, as two completely independent 400 kV overhead lines, "Lastva – Trebinje" and "Lastva-Podgorica", will be in operation.

CGES continued the construction of the power line towards Pljevlja, completing the 400 kV line from Lastva to Bukovica. (Šavnik municipality), with a length of approximately 104 kilometres, thereby creating the conditions to energise the Lastva and Brezna substations, which will significantly reduce electricity losses in the transmission system.

In order to complete the project to Pljevlja, the support of all relevant institutions is necessary to resolve the remaining issues, which are mainly of a property law nature.
