As part of the project for the subsea interconnection of Montenegro with Italy, which positions our country as a significant energy hub in the Balkans, the Montenegrin Transmission System continues with functional high-voltage tests. In this regard, on 8 December 2021, CGES will energise the 400 kV 'Lastva-Čevo-Pljevlja' transmission line – the 'Čevo-Brezna-Bukovica' section, which is 72 kilometres long.

As a reminder, this is a project of interest to the European Union and the Energy Community, which speaks volumes about the importance of an investment that transcends Montenegro's borders. With this interconnection, Montenegro's electricity system will be more stable, and the supply of electricity to consumers will be more secure and of a higher quality. By increasing transmission capacities and ensuring a secure and high-quality electricity supply, the prerequisites for faster economic development are being created.

It should be emphasised that the implementation of the project establishes a direct connection between Montenegro and the EU electricity market, which is a good prerequisite for realising the region's energy potential, and for creating the conditions for investment in generation and transmission capacities in Montenegro and the wider region.

The voltage test will be carried out in accordance with the Decision of the Administration for Inspection Affairs on a power line approximately 72 kilometres long. The voltage test is scheduled to take place from 10:00 to 11:00.
