The Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) has provided additional energy stability for over 25,000 consumers in a part of the Capital City, which will contribute to its further development, where the implementation of numerous infrastructure projects is expected.
He said that Director of the Sector for Development and Investments at the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator, Mijat Mirković, stating that the total value of the works amounts to two million and one hundred thousand euros.
He clarified that the 'Podgorica 1' and 'Podgorica 4', are connected by a 110 kV line, which in short means that CGES, by providing a dual supply to the Tološi substation, has ensured the reliability of the power supply to a large part of the capital's consumer base.
"Furthermore, the completion of this project contributes to the further development of the part of the city across the Morača, where numerous infrastructure projects are expected to be realised. The city's development also requires a modern electricity infrastructure, so CGES, in response to the growing demand for electricity, has undertaken the implementation of this very complex project, not only from a technical standpoint, but also under the very specific conditions posed by the coronavirus, within which numerous activities were carried out," explained Mirković. The newly constructed line is, as he explained, of a mixed type: from the 'Podgorica 1' substation to the village of Vranići it is an overhead line, while from Vranići to the 'Podgorica 4' substation a underground cable has been laid through a residential area.
"The laying of a 110 kV underground cable is being carried out for the second time in Podgorica, and an investment of this type contributes to the modernisation of the transmission network, all with the aim of providing a more reliable and higher-quality power supply to the rapidly expanding parts of Podgorica," said Mirković.
He added that by applying such technical and technological solutions, which are primarily concerned with avoiding the visual impact of space-occupying power lines, CGES positively influences the quality of life of the citizens of Podgorica, whilst primarily taking into account the protection of the environment.
"The realisation of this project is proof that CGES is making great efforts to improve and develop its network, from which not only citizens but also potential investors benefit," Mirković emphasised.
