Grid incident report: South-Eastern part of the Continental Europe power system

On 21 June 2024 at around 12:20, a major grid incident occurred in the south-eastern part of the Continental Europe power system. The incident resulted in a blackout in the electricity grids of Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and a partial blackout in Croatia. The affected TSOs, with the support of the neighbouring TSOs, restored power on their grids within approximately 2 hours, aiming to minimise the impact of the disruption on consumers. ENTSO-E is currently collecting all relevant technical data about this event from the affected TSOs and will provide more information as soon as possible. In accordance with the Incident Classification Scale methodology, the Systems Operations Committee of ENTSO-E will perform a detailed investigation of this event in the coming weeks, with the support of an expert panel.
