Within the framework of the ENTSO networks, the transmission system operators of Montenegro and Albania, CGES and OST, have drawn up a draft Memorandum of Understanding, which has
for the purpose of implementing the construction of the 110 kV Ulcinj–Velipoje interconnection and the rehabilitation of the existing 220 kV Podgorica–Vau interconnection
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Tirana by the executive directors of the transmission system operators of Montenegro and Albania, Ivan Asanović and Skerdi Drenova.
The construction of a new 110 kV Ulcinj–Velipoje interconnection would enable a dual power supply for the municipality of Ulcinj, while the second, but no less significant, project relates to the rehabilitation of the existing 220 kV Podgorica–Vau Dejes interconnection, which is seen as part of a wider picture of increasing the transmission capacity of the entire 220 kV network from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Trebinje) to Albania (Vau Dejes).
