Twenty-six first-year postgraduate students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering today visited the 'Lastva' substation and familiarised themselves with the most modern solutions in the field of high-voltage equipment.

The visit was organised by the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System, as part of a long-standing good cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

Student of the Energy and Automation programme, specialisation – Electro-energetic Systems, CGES Engineer Aleksa Knežević He was given a detailed introduction to the operation of the substation, which is also part of the energy interconnection between Montenegro and Italy.

PR Manager of the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator Nada Pavićević says that the substation in Lastva is one of the most significant electrical power facilities.

Twenty Six students had the opportunity today to familiarise themselves with the workings of this facility, which was built to the highest technical and technological standards. I believe that these young people, thanks to the excellent host, engineer Aleksi Knežević, will make the best possible use of today's experience on their path to further professional development,' emphasises Pavićević.

She says that in this way, CGES, as a socially responsible company, supports the model of linking theory and practice.

We believe this is the key to success. We must provide students with as much practical knowledge as possible, so that tomorrow we have a high-quality engineering workforce that will meet all challenges. This visit, which has long been a practice for our company, is confirmation 'the symbiosis between CGES and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, from which students benefit the most,' concluded Pavićević.

And a professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Vladan Radulović He considers such visits and tours to be extremely beneficial for students, as it is in this way that they deepen their knowledge.

They get to see the process, equipment and procedures that they are only theoretically familiar with at university. The particular significance of the visit to the Lastva substation is that the students have the opportunity to see state-of-the-art solutions in the field of high-voltage equipment; it is a gas-insulated plant at 400 and 110 kV. This makes this substation unique in Montenegro, and its special significance lies in the fact that this substation is part of the interconnection system between Montenegro and Italy,' Professor Radulović stated. On behalf of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, he thanked CGES for organising the visit, with the expectation that the cooperation will continue in the future.

The students also consider today's visit to be very useful for practical training.

Student Maja Vujisić He states that it is particularly important for students to supplement theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

For us as students, it is very important to visit facilities like this, because at university we focus on theory and have an ideal theoretical foundation, that is, a basis for further progress and development. However, theory is rather dry if we cannot substantiate it with real-world examples, and this is a real plant, an installation that brings that theory to life and gives it meaning. "For us, the ideal opportunity is to visit this, as well as the plants we have previously realised in cooperation with CGES," said student Maja Vujisić.
