Today in Podgorica, the first contract for connecting a solar power plant to the transmission system was signed. The plant has an installed capacity of 385 MW (megawatts) and is valued at around 300 million euros. The contract was signed by the Executive Director of CGES, Ivan Asanović i Nikola Špadijer Executive Director of "MEnergy" d.o.o., Cetinje.
In order to develop and successfully implement this investment for the production of energy from renewable sources, the finalisation of which will bring multiple benefits to both citizens and the economy, The investor has submitted a duly completed application to CGES for connection to the transmission system, having previously obtained urban planning and technical conditions from the Government of CG for the construction of the power plant.
The future solar power plant will be built on the catchment areas of the cadastral municipalities of Ubli (Cetinje), Bogetići and Broćanac, within the territory of the municipality of Nikšić.
By contract is A dynamic plan was defined, which provides for the power plant to be built and connected to the grid by 2027.
Despite the fact that the integration of renewable energy sources into the existing grid infrastructure will present technical challenges, and that a significant number of connection requests have already been submitted to CGES, the transmission network operated by the Montenegrin Transmission System is largely prepared for such trends. To date, our company has invested significant funds in strengthening and modernising its capacities, as well as in new projects of regional significance.
We are continuing with such intensive development of the transmission network, which is also confirmed by the very an ambitious five-year investment plan, worth 195 million euros.
