The first agreement on the connection of a solar power plant, whose installed capacity is 385 MW (megawatts) and value of around 300 million euros, to the transmission system was signed today in Podgorica. The agreement was signed by the Executive Director of CGES, Ivan Asanović and Nikola Špadijer Executive Director of "MEnergy" d.o.o., Cetinje.
In order to develop and successfully implement this investment for the generation of energy from renewable sources, the finalisation of which will have multiple benefits for both citizens and the economy, the investor submitted a formal application for connection to the transmission system to CGES, previously obtaining urban and technical conditions from the Government of Montenegro for the construction of the power plant.
The future solar power plant will be constructed on the territory of the cadastral municipalities of Ubli (Cetinje), and Bogetići and Broćanac on the territory of the Municipality of Nikšić.
The agreement is a dynamic plan , which provides for the power plant to be built and connected to the grid by 2027.
Despite the fact that the integration of renewable energy sources into the existing network infrastructure will present technical challenges, and that CGES has already received a significant number of applications for connection, the transmission network managed by Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem is largely prepared for such trends. So far, our company has invested significant funds in strengthening and modernising its capacities and new projects of regional importance.
We continue with such intensive development of the transmission network, which is confirmed by the very ambitious five-year investment plan worth 195 million euros.
