A CGES delegation, led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Aleksandar Mijušković, and the Chief Executive Officer, Ivan Asanović, paid an official visit to the Italian transmission system operator, Terna. This visit represents a continuation of the long-standing successful cooperation between the two companies, which is reflected in the implementation of the project to interconnect the electricity systems of Montenegro and Italy via a submarine HVDC cable. The delegation also included Leda Minić, Director of Elektroprenos; Milica Deretić, Director of the Sector for Regulatory, Legal and International Cooperation; Ranko Redžić, Director of the National Dispatch Centre; Dragan Perunović, Director of the Sector for Development and Investments; and Aleksa Knežević, Head of the Executive Director's Cabinet.
At Terne, the delegation was welcomed by the Vice-President of the CGES Board of Directors, Maria Rosaria Guarniere, and Board Member Guido Guida.
The first part of the visit is dedicated to familiarising themselves with the organisation of the National Dispatch Centre, the processes for market coupling implementation, the integration of renewable energy sources into the transmission system, as well as the application of battery systems for electricity storage. On this occasion, a visit was also organised to Esperia, the regional branch of the Coordination Centre for the South-Eastern Europe Power Networks, SEleNe-CC.
The second part is dedicated to the application of innovations and new technologies in plants and business processes, with a special focus on digital substations. Additionally, practices in asset management and the maintenance of substations and transmission lines were presented, along with a brief overview of the interconnection project between Italy and Montenegro.
We are convinced that the exchange of knowledge and experience during this visit will further strengthen the cooperation between CGES and Terna, as well as contribute to the improvement of CGES's business processes and the further development of Montenegro's electricity transmission network.
We look forward to the opportunity to return the hospitality to our colleagues from Terné on their return visit!
