The Montenegrin electricity transmission system recently hosted the 12th regular regional meeting of representatives of the transmission system operators of south-eastern Europe (Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Turkey and Kosovo), with the aim of harmonising the plan for disconnecting the relevant elements of the 400, 220 and 110 kV voltage levels.
The process of planning outages of elements of the European interconnector electricity grid plays an important role in operational management.
To maintain the safe operational conditions of the network and guarantee an adequate level of reliability, regular maintenance is necessary, which requires the disconnection of components. Furthermore, outages are also necessary to carry out works to increase capacity in distribution substations or to install new network elements.
In accordance with the rules on coordinated operational planning applicable to interconnection (ENTSO-E Operational Manual), transmission system operators are required to harmonise the Annual Disconnection Plan for the following year. For tasks related to the coordination of the agreed plan's implementation, one of the transmission system operators of South-Eastern Europe is nominated each year.
Also present at the meeting were representatives of the Belgrade Security Coordination Centre (SCC).
The coordinator for 2016 is the Montenegrin Transmission System Operator.
