The RES 2026 Conference, held in Vrdnik, brought together representatives of the region’s energy sector, institutions, companies and the investment community, with a focus on the development of renewable energy sources, the energy transition and the future of power systems.
CGES was represented at the conference by Aleksandar Mijuskovic, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Ivan Asanović, General Director of CGES, who participated as a panelist.
Montenegro’s potential for the development of renewable energy sources is best demonstrated by the concrete figures presented at the conference: around 7 GW of expressed interest in grid connections, approximately 5 GW of applications processed through grid impact studies, and around 3 GW of projects, predominantly solar, for which connection agreements have already been signed.
This level of development further highlights the importance of a strong and reliable transmission network capable of integrating new generation capacities and connecting Montenegro with regional and European energy markets.
