A Strong Distribution System Requires a Reliable Transmission System

Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem (CGES) is proud to be the sponsor of the 2nd Conference on Electricity Distribution Networks of Montenegro – CIRED, taking place 15–18 June in Bečići and organized by the National Committee CIRED Montenegro.

At the opening of the event, CGES Supervisory Board Chair Aleksandar Mijušković addressed the participants. On this occasion, he was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the organizers in recognition of the company’s support for this important professional event.
“Today, the energy sector is one of the few fields where the future is not merely predicted – it is built every day. That is why events such as CIRED are invaluable, as they bring together professionals whose knowledge, experience and vision shape the changes that will define the decades ahead. We are proud to support an event that is a key meeting point for energy sector professionals and the business community.
A strong distribution system requires a robust and reliable transmission system. With this in mind, CGES is intensively implementing investments aimed at further enhancing the security and stability of Montenegro’s power system. In the recent period, we completed and commissioned a shunt reactor, built the new 110/35 kV Žabljak substation, and reconstructed the 110/35 kV Pljevlja 1 substation.
The 400 kV Lastva–Pljevlja transmission line has also been completed, enabling the closure of the 400 kV transmission ring, one of the most significant infrastructure projects for Montenegro’s power system.
In the coming period, special attention will be focused on creating the conditions for two-sided supply to Rožaje, Kotor and Ulcinj, thereby further increasing the security of electricity supply for both citizens and the economy.
I would like to thank the hosts for this recognition and the trust they placed in us. I wish this year’s CIRED would serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue, knowledge exchange and new partnerships, and for the ideas generated here to contribute to the further development of our profession and the energy future of the region,” said Mijušković.

This year’s conference has brought together more than 200 experts from across the region, while over 20 companies will showcase their latest solutions, products and services.
