CGES and Nu Energy have signed an Agreement on the connection of the “Velestovo” Solar Power Plant to the transmission grid, facilitating increased electricity generation from domestic renewable energy sources and contributing to Montenegro’s energy independence.

The agreement was signed by Ivan Asanović, General Director of CGES, and Erkut Alkaya, Executive Director of Nu Energy, the owner and investor of the “Velestovo” Solar Power Plant.

With an estimated investment value of EUR 50 million, the “Velestovo” Solar Power Plant will incorporate an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS), enabling more efficient management of generated electricity, time-optimized delivery of electricity to the grid, and greater flexibility of the power system.

The “Velestovo” Solar Power Plant will add new generation capacity to Montenegro’s power system and incorporate advanced energy storage technologies, supporting the reliable integration of solar power into the transmission grid.
