Pursuant to the Law on Electronic Telecommunications (Official Gazette of Montenegro, no. 40/13, 56/13, 02/17), Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD (CGES) is registered in the Register of Operators of the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Decision no. 0205-3719/2 of 01 October 2010) for providing the service of optical fibre lease.
The telecommunications system of Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD is based on IP/MPLS technology. CGES has its own passive optical network and, in combination with new IP/MPLS active equipment, it has a modern and reliable telecommunications system that connects all facilities of interest to CGES. The new telecommunications system of CGES replaces the existing SDH/PDH system and enables an additional level of reliability and availability during the transmission of services necessary for the normal operation of the electricity transmission system, such as: SCADA systems, metering systems, operational telephony, protection systems, video surveillance, business network, exchange of information with EPCG and CEDIS, international connections with neighbouring transmission system operators and many others. To this end, redundancies have been implemented in the multi-level system. Several redundant telecommunication connections lead to each location, both by optical cables and by radio relay links. Redundancies have also been implemented at the level of power supply sources, modular power supply, processor and traffic cards up to the level of communication interfaces.
The total length of the optical cable is 1004 km.
Table 1 contains a list of all sections that make up the optical network of CGES:

Table 1 – List of sections of CGES optical network
The optical network is consistent with the development of transmission networks in neighbouring electric power companies. The capacity of the OPGW cable in the network is 48 optical fibres. The applied OPGW cables have two types of fibres, 24 fibres are ITU-T G.652D SMF type, and the other 24 fibres are ITU-T G.655C NZDSF type. In the directions Andrijevica – Berane and Pljevlja 1 – Pljevlja 2, a cable with 24 optical fibres was used, but with a mixed structure that includes both types of used fibres. On the section Lastva – Brezna, a cable with 12 optical fibres ITU-T G.652D SMF type was used, and on the section Brezna – Žabljak, a cable with 12 optical fibres ITU-T G.655C NZDSF type was used. Through the use of optics, CGES is connected to the electric power companies of Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.
The physical structure of the CGES optical network is shown in Figure 1:

Pursuant to the Law on Electronic Telecommunications (Official Gazette of Montenegro, no. 40/13, 56/13, 02/17), Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD (CGES) is registered in the Register of Operators of the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Decision no. 0205-5479/2 of 30 July 2019) for providing the service of electronic communication infrastructure lease.
CGES offers the relevant service to interested operators in cases where there are technical conditions and available free capacity for joint use of the electronic communication infrastructure and if joint use does not cause interference with the operation and use of this infrastructure. The service of electronic communication infrastructure lease includes the provision of alternating power supply 220 AC. CGES can provide power supply from the home transformer, as for other consumers in the substation. Equipment for uninterruptible power supply is provided by the lessee.
The colocation service is possible at the following locations:
